Reporting Retaliation

Sheriff Dart issued a Sheriff’s Order which sets forth the Sheriff’s Office’s Unlawful Political Discrimination, Reporting and Retaliation Policy. The purpose of the Sheriff’s Order is to set forth its policy to prohibit unlawful political discrimination. It states that it is the duty of all employees in the Sheriff's Office to report unlawful political discrimination and that no individual who in good faith reports unlawful political discrimination shall be subject to retaliation. Click here to read the Sheriff's Order on retaliation.

If you believe that the Sheriff’s Office has retaliated against you for either filing a claim for unlawful political discrimination or for reporting unlawful political discrimination in connection with hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline, discharge or any other term or aspect of employment with the Sheriff of Cook County, you may have a claim for damages against the Sheriff.  Attached are forms for retaliation claims.
